The issue opens with Miroslav Petříček’s essay “The Improbability of History”, which is accompanied by an excerpt from the work of the semiologist Yuri Mikhailovich Lotman “Divine Arrangement, or Gambling?”. Karel Haloun’s “truth and lies on the road” series continues with a Slovak instalment “Typo Kucha: Printer, Wine Bar, and Beer Hall” and Petr Fischer’s next “documentary paper” is entitled “To Strip Reality from the Human”). The section “Doubts of… a Sponger” closes with “Confession of a Sponger”. The following section “Czech… Memories” consists of an interview with action artist Jan Mlčoch (“Talks of Old Wigs”), and the next instalment of “new directions for use”, this time by Pavel Novotný, is entitled Records. The first section dedicated to premières at reopened theatres is entitled “After the Second Wave: Biographies…” and Karel Král (“Cheerfully to the Battlefield”) writes about the JEDL Theatre Company’s production The Marital History inspired by the life of August Strindberg. Vladimír Mikulka (“The Most Important Product of a Creative Mind”) writes about a production looking back at the life and work of Nikola Tesla, directed by Jakub Maksymov at the Divadlo Komedie. S.d.Ch reviews the production My Empire is of This World (directed by Miroslav Bambušek, Studio Hrdinů) inspired by the works and fortunes of the German writer Wolfgang Borchert, and the section closes with Josef Rubeš’s review of Koltès’s Roberto Zucco, directed by Atilla Vidnyánszky Jr. at the Divadlo Komedie. The section “Drama in Brno” includes reviews of three productions at the National Theatre Brno: Marek Lollok (“Between the Past and Present”) writes about Milan Kundera’s Owners of the Keys (directed by Martin Glaser) and The Doctor by Robert Icke (directed by Lukáš Brutovský), and David Drozd (“Stoppard’s «Viennese» Play in Brno”) reviews Tom Stoppard’s Leopoldstadt, directed by Radovan Lipus. In the section “Prague Collection…” Vladimír Mikulka (“Slowly and Swiftly”) writes about new circus productions Living Room by Lukáš Karásek and tYhle ensemble and Runners by the Cirk La Putyka, and Barbora Etlíková about “northern adaptations” by the Švanda Theatre in Smíchov: Let the Right One In (directed by Jan Holec) and Adam’s Apples (directed by Jiří Pokorný). Jakub Škorpil (“Hour Hand Moves Slowly”) reviews a staging of the musical Dr. Johann Faust… by Jiří Suchý and Ferdinand Havlík directed by Vladimír Morávek for the Prague Municipal Theatres; Josef Rubeš (“Hippies and Astronauts”) reviews two productions of Shakespeare’s Tempest, one directed by Viktorie Čermáková and presented by DAMU students, and the second directed by the duo SKUTR and an ensemble brought together for the Summer Shakespeare Festival. The section closes with Karel Král’s essay “Emmersive Theatre” about two productions of the Divadlo Na zábradlí: the audiowalk Cleopatra, directed by 8lidí, and Hello Universe! directed by Jan Mikulášek. In the section “And the Party and the Guests” Vladimír Mikulka (“Between Pilots and Bears”) writes about productions from the Regiony Festival in Hradec Králové: Woyzeck (directed by Antanas Obcarskas, Lietuvos Nacionalinis Dramos Teatras) and Where Are We Going to Live by the vi.TVOR ensemble. In her essay “Admirable Bodies in Italian and Greek Fashion”, Blanka Křivánková considers a selection from this year’s Tanec Praha festival: Graces by Silvia Gribaudi and Transverse Orientation by Dimitris Papaioannou. In the section “Slovak… Life Trials” Martina Ulmanová (“It is Weird to play a War Drama with Puppets…”) writes about the production Dukla: the Valley of Death by the Dezorzovo lútkové divadlo, and Martin Marcinčin (“An Exam from the Cancer”) about a production of Michaela Zakuťanská’s play Adulthood, directed at the National Theatre Prešov by Jiří Pokorný. The play of the issue is David Finnigan’s 44 Sexual Acts in One Week in a translation by Ester Žantovská and it is accompanied by an interview with the author entitled “Shocks Will Be Ever Greater and More Frequent”. The next “short comedy” written for the SaD magazine in the series “From Evolution Revolution and the Other Way Round” is Michael Žantovský’s Nomination, accompanied by an interview with the author “From Self-Irony to Personal Responsibility”. The comic strip The Twin by the author duo Klimáček-Danglár “about the final struggle between theatre and television in both our and parallel worlds” continues with the instalment “Revolution”.
