The issue opens with Miroslav Petříček’s essay “Truth and Facts”, which is accompanied by an excerpt from the works of a nearly forgotten Polish physician Ludwik Fleck, entitled “Origins and Development of a Scientific Fact”. Karel Haloun’s series “Truth and Lies on the Road” continues with its second instalment “The Bitter Songs of Sweet France” and Petr Fischer (“Moore, Moore, Moore”) writes in the second instalment of the “documentary papers” about the works of controversial American documentary film-maker Michael Moore. The opening section “Truth… and Salvation?” concludes with a report on a unique artificial intelligence project “Kafka as Software”. In the section “Fog in front of Us… Fog behind Us”, Karel Král’s essay “The Golden Age?” offers a “subjective” view of the most remarkable productions on Czech theatre stages over the last five seasons. The section “Let Bygones Be Bygones… the Circus in Prague” goes back to the Cirkopolis Festival. Vladimír Mikulka (“In an Apartment, in a Park, on the Street”) writes about productions Se Prendre by the Canadian duo Claudel Doucet and Cooper Lee Smith, Red Haired Man by Belgian Alexander Vantourhnout, and How to Welcome the Aliens? by Compagnie Ea Eo, also from Belgium. In the following essay “Elation from Disaster” Karel Král reviews the production The Eighth Day by the French Compagnie La Mob à Sisyphe. In his essay “Female Bakers, Female Singers, Gal Pals and Mothers”, Jan Šotkovský summarizes his spring visit to musical London and he writes about productions of Waitress (Adelphi Theatre), Tina (Aldwych Theatre), Amélie (The Other Palace), and Dear Evan Hansen (Noël Coward Theatre). The section “Spring 2020… from Czechia to Tenerife” introduces “Quarantine – The Second Survey from the Times of Coronavirus” in which ten Czech theatre artists from significant municipal theatres and alternative stages of various orientations give their views on questions relevant today. Petr Fischer (“In a Tow of Fate”) reviews the author’s online reading of Pavel Kohout’s new play A General Meeting in the Times of the Virus from Bats… in which the ninety-two-year-old author also bids farewell to the theatre. The section closes with a parodic “original series in quarantine”, entitled by its author S.d.Ch. Tut on Tenerife or The Pandemic Asylum of an Indifferent Beast or The Building of Collective (Cultural) Immunity. Its title character, Tut, is a Minister of Culture who imitates the pharaoh Tutankhamun. The section “And… from Broadway to Virtual Reality” includes essays summarizing the experience of the theatre existing under conditions of pandemic restrictions. Blanka Křivánková (“Not Only Broadway in the Times of a Pandemic”) reports on the U. S. A., largely focusing mainly on the project 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues. Natálie Preslová (“Poetry and Photonovels”) writes about France and mentions, for instance, the projects Le Culture Truck or Poetic Sessions on the Phone. In his essay “Attention! The Virus”, Paweł Sztarbowski, the dramatic adviser of the Warsaw Teatr Powszechny, summarizes developments in Poland ranging from the impacts of the crisis on the financial situation in culture to experiments with a virtual stage. The play of this issue is a Tarantinian farce about (not only) eco-terrorism and a courageous woman minister of environment, entitled Kill Climate Deniers, by the Australian playwright David Finnigan. With whom there is also a short correspondence interview about the themes of his drama and other things, entitled “To Fight with Fuckwits and Be Kind to Each Other”. The series of flash dramas “Truth, Love and Those Others” written exclusively for the SAD magazine continues with Tomáš Dianiška’s text Big Brother, and the third instalment of “the fantasy comic about the last battle between theatre and television in our as well as parallel worlds” by the duo Klimáček-Danglár is entitled Hamlet Condemned.
